FAQ

Questions parents actually ask.

What is Cardz Studio?

Cardz Studio is a flashcard app built for exam revision, for students aged 13 and over. You (or your student) build cards with text, images and audio on a free-form canvas, organise them into named folders, and revise using a five-level confidence rating that brings each card back at the right time.

Who is Cardz Studio for?

It's designed for secondary-school-age students (roughly 13 to 18), and works just as well for any exam board or qualification level since the app is subject-agnostic — you build the folders and cards to match whatever syllabus you're studying. It's set up and supervised by a parent or guardian.

How much does Cardz Studio cost?

There is a genuine free plan: one student profile, one folder, and up to 20 cards, with the full editor, all six themes and export included. A Family plan (unlimited folders and cards, one student profile included, up to four total) costs £9/month or £90/year, plus £5/month or £45/year for each additional student profile (up to three more). See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.

Can more than one student use the same account?

Yes. The Free plan supports one student profile. The Family plan includes one student profile, with the option to add up to three more (four in total) for a small extra fee each. Each student's decks and folders stay private to them.

Is my student's data private? Are there ads or trackers inside the app?

Yes, it's private. The Cardz Studio app itself carries no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking cookies — that's a deliberate design choice, not a marketing line. (This marketing website, cardzstudio.com, is separate from the app and may use a consent-gated analytics cookie to understand which pages are useful — the app your student actually studies in does not.)

Is there a public marketplace of other people's flashcards?

No, and that's intentional. Some flashcard apps let anyone publish decks publicly, which has led to inappropriate content turning up in search results aimed at teenagers. In Cardz Studio, your student only ever sees content that a parent has put there.

What kind of flashcards can I make?

Cards have a question side and an answer side, and both are a free-form canvas — you can place, drag and resize text boxes, images and audio clips however suits the content, rather than being locked into one fixed layout.

How does the revision scheduling work?

After flipping a card, your student rates how confident they felt on a 1-to-5 scale. That confidence rating — not just a right/wrong tick — decides when the card comes back for review, so time goes on the cards that genuinely haven't stuck yet. A more advanced memory-modelling algorithm is on the roadmap.

Does Cardz Studio work on phones and tablets?

Yes, it runs in the browser on desktop, tablet and mobile. On an iPad specifically, we recommend using "Add to Home Screen" so the browser doesn't clear the app's storage after a period of inactivity.

Is AI answer-grading available?

Written answers already get AI marking, with one line of specific feedback rather than a flat right/wrong. Multiple-choice and true/false auto-grading are still on the roadmap.

What happens to my student's flashcards if I downgrade or cancel?

Content is locked, never deleted. If a Family plan downgrades and a student profile becomes locked, that student's decks and folders are kept exactly as they were — they simply become accessible again if you upgrade later.

Can I get my student's flashcards out of Cardz Studio?

Yes. Every deck can be exported to a file at any time, and an exported file can be imported back in — on the same device or a different one. This export is the real, unconditional backup of your student's work.
